FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I want to make an appointment...

We need to let you know that we are now a subscription based practice and no longer providing NHS sight tests. We are offering privately funded comprehensive eyecare.

We have exciting new diagnostic eye examination and dispensing equipment. Booking longer clinic appointments allows clinical freedom to provide a consistent comprehensive examination to all.

How much is an appointment?

Our Adult Eyecare direct debit plan is £8.50 a month which covers all you eyecare needs and allows us then to give you substantial discounts on your practice purchases.

You would pay nothing on the day of your appointment as benefits start immediately.

Family eyecare remains a priority with family Eyecare plans

How much is to pay-as-you-go?

Our pay-as-you-go options are as follows:

  • Adult exam = £120.00
  • Child exam = £50.00
  • Contact Lens appointment = £80.00
  • Triage = £90.00
  • Colorimetry = £80.00

Do you offer a child plan?

Our Child Eyecare direct debit plan is £6.00 a month which covers all your child's eyecare needs including substantial discounts on your practice purchases.

You would pay nothing for your child on the day of your appointment as benefits start immediately.

Children are classed as under 19 in full time education.

I have an NHS eye examination because I am diabetic / have glaucoma / Family history of glaucoma (FHG).....I’ve just seen the hospital so don’t need more images...

We are really the GP of the eyes looking at the whole eye rather than just one area.

Our new OCT scanner, similar to equipment used in the eye clinic, allows advanced view of the retina especially the  macula and optic nerve ( relevant for FHG).

Are children private too?

Children’s eye examinations are included in the Family eyecare plan based on 2 plan members being registered in the household.

Children’s examinations include single vision lenses when necessary ( similar to previous NHS entitlement) and retinal photography.

Children are classed as under 19 in full time education.

Spectacle wearing children can access substantial discounts by joining the reduced rate child’s plan for £6 a month.

If I come for eye examination can I still get an NHS optical voucher towards the cost of my glasses?

As we no longer provide NHS sight testing, we cannot issue a NHS voucher and due to NHS regulations other opticians cannot issue one to our prescription.

A child’s eye examination will include a pair of single vision lenses and children on their own Eyecare plan will receive all the discounts and benefits of the adult plan.

Please call us for more information about family care plans.

I wear contact lenses, what about me?

Our Contact Lens patients are generally already subscription based and have the same benefits on their £13.00 direct debit plan.

But I have been a patient for 20 years!

This has been a huge decision and not one we have taken lightly.

The new fee structure we have will ensure that we will still be here to see you in 25 years time!
